I am using windows 8.. is windows 10 a good way to go.. I don't understand why windows is calling it an upgrade and not a new system..also what is the system for mail are they using i'm not that great on using this thing, so any help/info would be welcomed thanks

I had w/8 and didn't care for it. Up graded to 10 for free and it is a little better. The install took a long time and they say all up grades will be automatic.
Something in me tells me Microsoft is up to no good. Why would they make this up grade free. Nothing in this world is truly free. .

I upgraded to Windows 10 and now I can't use some of my old programs. If I had it to do over I would stick with Windows 7. It worked and was easy to use.

I've read on other boards where some of the techies 'upgraded' to 10 and then came right back to whatever the had before.

Like everything else Microsoft tends to do, by the time everyone is forced into Windows 10, they'll be on Windows 15 or something like that. In any case they when you install 10 you give up a bunch of privacy as it saves/remembers nearly EVERYTHING you do to make the whole online "experience" more "personal"

Mine was personal enough with Windows 98, then with XP, and now with 7. I don't think I can stand, nor do I want, anymore upgrades and personalization.

I upgraded from 7 to 10 two weeks ago and so far I like as well as any new Microsoft product since 95. The learning curve is not steep from 7 to 10. In fairness I don't ask much of my PC, keep a few word and excel files, lots of pictures and look at Email and Internet.

I don't have much on this computer anyways, and didn't like 8, so I did the free upgrade to 10. Seemed OK to start wit, but after about a week, I realized I can no longer update anything, and I cant watch videos. I either get a green screen, or a black screen, or when I can get the video to actually show, its very choppy. I have too many pics, which is all I care about on this computer, to dump it all and start over.

John, I was having similar problems with 7 which was upgraded from Vista. When I upgraded from 7 to 10 an easy to understand error box came up and said drivers and this and that needed to be either upgraded or installed for a host of programs and asked if I wanted to do that. Clicked yes and everything is working great, much better than 7 ever worked for me. No expert here believe me, just reporting my results.

I enjoyed all the comments.it seem to me that microsoft could come up with a good strip down system for people like me. I don't need all those programs etc. but have them available for installing if you wanted them. have a good day

I get that box, but when I click OK, it keeps going back to the error report. I went back to 8.1, but I still get the same box popping up, something with the 10 upgrade did it, Im sure. Ive psoted my problem on the MS website, but noone seems to know whats wrong. I had 7 put on my old computer, and this one here at work runs 7.Not a single "major" probelm from wither until my old laptop at home took a dump.

Yup, I'm very leery of 10. I absolutely despise windows 8.1. Worst piece of garbage Microsoft ever put on the market. But I am told there are some personal security concerns with 10. Am considering a Linux system or anteing up for a Mac next time around. My current laptop is an HP and I'm not particularly wedded to it.

""""bad video card drivers.""""" You need to upgrade drivers for correct video playback. Or reload older os.

I have serveral computers where the manufactor of the older video card no longer supports it and will not issue a new driver, so I am SOL and stuck on those computers. Its not microsoft's fault and I cant blame a vendor for not supporting 10 year +++ old video cards. In this case a generic video card would be better than the fancy hp video card. It is what it is.

I have Window 10 on a couple computers and love it. 7 and 8.1 were OK but 10 will work with drivers it is not really expected to work with. I am driving an old color laser printer with drivers for Vista but as long as you pick the correct 32 vs 64 system and put it in the correct mode, they work like a champ.

I am thinking that 10 is designed to use more of the cloud applications.

Hi, I have 8.1 on my pc. I have popups coming on screen to click to get Windows 10 for free. I phoned my pc doctor and asked his advise. He said it would ruin what I have. He said somthing in pc needs changing and transfer my data. Ed will
