Using a Harris 6290 Cutting tip with a 2490 Tip Nut

Can you safely use a 6290 Harris cutting tip with a 2490 Tip Nut. It is hard to find 2490 cutting tips. If not where can I get a 6290 Tip Nut for a reasonable price. Thinking my tip maybe bad as it likes to pop almost like a machine gun when I add the oxygen to the gas (Not using the cutting lever). Tip looks clean. Replaced the "O" rings in the handle.

Atl welding supply has the tip nut for 8.95 on line. They also have the 2490 tips. I think you will need to have the seat on the torch head resurfaced to stop the popping. I think that is where your problem lies. I had my smiths torch head seat repaired for the same problem .
