I'm Not Tall, But;

This is just a rant :( I needed to clean my boat and sidewalk, go to the garage for my pressure washer, I have to walk bent over to roll the darn thing, handle is way low. Next, I go to the back of the house to get my hose reel, I have to walk bent over to roll the darn thing, handle is way low. Get everything hooked up and ready to go, fire up the washer and have to walk bent over to use the darn thing, wand is too short.

I'm 5'10" which isn't tall. Are all rolling tools made for 4'8" folks? Told you it was a rant :)

Its not all about who made it. The packaging and shipping have a lot to do with the design of consumer products that come from the land of almost right. They must figure out just how many they need to cram in a freight container and then reverse design it to fit.

Hi Tom,
Just a thought.....if you have a junked high wheel push mower, put its wheels on the PW. Or buy some for it. I know a guy that's 6'7" and that's what he did, but at his "altitude" he still has the push it all stooped over, but not quite so far.

Good fortune!

Scott

Tom, I think the wand on my PW is too short also.....but I'm 5'9". Can't reach HIGH enough!
Hahahahaha! LOL!!
Have a great day Sir!

Scott

been carping about the height ( or lack of it ) of my pressure washer handle for years, good to see I'm not alone. bill

I'm 6'2 which isn't giant - but I find most push mowers seem to be designed to be pushed with one's knees.

6'4" here. Most things with handles are short. This includes mowers, pressure washers, shovels, laundry hampers, etc. I usually just pick up the item and tote it if possible.

its another way for cheep china to cheapen things up. Everything is a few inches shorter, a few .000" thinner, a bit smaller in diameter, etc. Put our card table set next to my moms old Samsonite one and the table and chairs are inch or two shorter. It goes on and on. anything to save a penny or two

Must be because everything is made by short Chinese people and they don't take account that all people aren't 5'0".

I'm only 6'4", but it has always been that way...the world is made for short people.
Look at even our old tractors, 90% of them need the seat moved up and back....new ones are even worse....
look at a modern HST go pedal with pivot front and rear pads.
c'mon....fit a normal boot in there?...right.

I don't mind ducking, second nature like breathing, don't even have to think about it.
More concerning with modern stuff........I weigh 240, just normal proportions for my height. New chairs, lawn furniture, etc.....no way...
(and what's up with new ladders?? 250lb weight limit?!?! couple a tools or a paint bucket and most men are far over?!?)

Handle height is something that can be checked before you buy. Many push mowers have adjustable handles. I'm 6 foot and like the second highest of four settings on my Craftsman mowers.

Some low things are easier to move in a wheel barrow toss or a cart. One problem of adding handle extensions is the item needs more storage space with longer a longer handle. I'm surprised there isn't a market for pressure washer extensions.

I worked for a freight line for 26 years and after having used a two-wheeler for all of that it was pretty natural that I had one around the shop. Now that I have some age and can't breath for #$@# it's almost unthinkable not to have one. One like mine brings about $40. It has pneumatic tires so it works great in most terrain. gm

(quoted from post at 07:34:16 09/16/15) Well, With all the replies, I feel much better now. Rant Over :)

You could be like my youngest daughter. She was born a dwarf or little person if you like that term better. At 14 she is as tall as she will ever get at 4 foot 2 inches. Imagine the trouble she has in reaching things made for us average height folks.

I have had to modify her 22 rifle so she could reach the trigger, had to get her an AR M4 to deer hunt with again so she can reach the trigger, and now looking a newly found to us Mossberg Mini Bantom pump so she can have a scatter gun to use.

We complain about a few things like handles to low she has many more to complain about but doesn't as she has a great attitude and outlook on life.

She has taught me not to complain about things that are a bit to low or high for my 5'11" inch frame.

Tom

afa the pressure washer wand... you can buy different lengths... check with Amazon, E bay, Northern tool.... I had that back killing length 18" or so) and ended up buying a 30" I think...all the difference

I have the opposite problem... I'm taller than I think... Im forever running into things just at hair height... and end up skinning up my bald head !!! I'm 6' but think I'm 5'10"
