Chopping wood

Splitting wood with an axe head on the opposite side of the piece looks like a good way to break the handle, however this is straight grained wood and he doesn't have to swing very hard.

I would call that kindling for my wood burning operation. Once started I want that slow steady burn. That only comes from logs quartered or halved. He would not do that with some of this stringy old elm we have here. gobble

Yeah, I burn almond mainly, and it's very gnarly. I'm old and need a splitter. Also, his wood looks like it could be frozen, which helps. But, the premise is clever.

ack in the day I used to burn anything round and brown we used a good bit of cottonwood. When hand splitting wait for below freezing even below zero on green wood for next year and it split like the video. Just circle the piece as you split off slabs. Good daytime wood, just took a lot of it. The strap would have at least kept it standing upright.

I see a lot of people with half A### emarks but that still is pretty cool. Frozen wood splits much better.
