Finally got the space prepared for the flag pole the kids gave me for Father's Day. Did not want to run power to it so am going to use a led with photo cell, I am not a "greenie" just seemed a little easier than running pipe and wire. Anyone used one or have any experience? They seem to come in a wide wide price range. gobble

My neighbor has/had one. Worked good.until about 3 am, then it ran out of battery. Local cemetery used some that were very expensive and they stay on all night.

I have a couple of the solar ones and they need to have light almost ALL day to get a really good charge. If you can give them that they work pretty good.

I've had one about 2 years. Works well unless we have a week of very cloudy weather. I don't know the brand. Cost about $70. neighbor has the same. His batteries lasted about 3 years.

All LED I have saw make light you can see from a long way off but don't throw a good beam to illuminate. If it won't illuminate good get something else. You are proud enough to fly a flag then illuminate it good or take down at night. How far from current? I would think a good spot light would work from quite a distance better than LED close up.

My relationship with Mr. Spade, Dr. Pick, and Ms. Shovel is kind of on the outs right now. Was hoping to not get personally reacquainted with them at this time. But if this solar thing is marginal, I will be reestablishing our relationships, and running a line from the garage. thank u for your input. gobble

Tom, How far from the other building? Could you mount a spot light with a photocell and aim it? joe
