Got the next one finished this morning. This is one of those Lennox units that are all galvanized. No rust or corrosion on it. Works just dandy and is about as big as I want to go size wise. You can see the "kicker, Heal, Air dam, whatever you chose to call it. Lets them make a lot of air and not pull to many amps. Only trouble with these as nice as they are.....All new parts come to about $40.oo per unit. Not too bad but not free unless you have a really full shop. Wink wink. Jeffcat Oh PS if you look on ebay the blower unit goes for about $150.oo or more. Nothing like digging through the junk pile! Oh PS II, Stop by the electrical place and buy the little rubber cover that goes on the 7.5 start capacitor. They go for like $2.oo and keep you from having a little shocking good time. If you want to know about the parts let me know.

Really nice Jeffcat :)
I have one of these fans in the back shed , I am inspired now and will go dig it out . I particularly like the no fuss really practical bracket legs and rubber feet . Coupled with the simple top based handle the units look really professional in design .

PS. later edit .
Could you point out the '' Air dam '' please ?

Thank you for the nice comment. I am proud of them. If you look at the little one the dam is right there at the bottom where the air comes out. A little different color of green. Look back a couple of subjects that weirddeere posted where I added a couple more pictures. It is one inch high. The bigger green unit has an air shutter on the side of the unit. This is how you adjust big air handlers and such in really big installations. Did it this way just for giggles. Lastly, on the galvanized unit the dam is again down at the bottom but is adjustable from the factory. I have it set at one inch also. That is from a Lennox heater and they are VERY well built. I built these just for fun and have used them at engine shows and a farm fair. Bring one of my big generators and plug a couple of them in. People get almost blown sideways at first but will stand there for three or five minutes and cool down in the breeze. FUN FUN. Jeffcat PS keep in touch if you have any questions.

Thanks for that Jeffcat .
I missed that last post of yours in the other thread , the air dam is very simple , surprised it is so effective . The intake restrictor and its effect on current draw is also interesting .
I am full of a cold at the moment but may ask your advice on wiring when I am fit enough to dare going into the wilds of the back shed .

Will do just drop a line. Something you need too do is order the switch. All of the other parts you can find locally or under a rock or something. Look on Ebay for the US market and find this item number. 130539646092 Very heavy rotary switch that can take the power load with no problems. Let us know. Jeffcat

I have a blower from an older furnace. External motor sets on top, belt drive to the fan. It functions just fine without any kind of restricting devices. It is mounted on a lawnmower frame.

I also have one from a newer furnace with an internal motor. That one DOES need some restriction. Without the restriction, the motor overheats and automatically shuts down.

I have three former furnace fans with the external motors that I've picked up at sales. Intend to use them for cooling the llamas in summer. I have to get shorter belts for two of them or figure out a way to move the motors away from the unit to tighten the belts. Used one of them for years until the motor crapped out, they really put out the air.
