OT: GM Child seat tether ranchor

Does anyone have a part number for the tether anchor kit that can be used in a '98 Chevy 2 door standard cab?
All the dealer came up with was a strap with a hook on each end. It is supposed to be hardware that fastens to the cab wall behind the seat to accept a hook on the end of a strap. I have researched all over the 'net and can't find any part number, only discussions about dealers and customer service who are of no help. These anchor kits were made to be used in pre 2000 pickups.

Thanks

If I could see the anchor I think I could make something that would work. The 98 1500 WT has a double wall about 6" wide across the back behind the top of the seat. There is no access to get behind the first wall and I can't see how a thru bolt would be tightened without crushing the walls together. Maybe a shoulder bolt with a large washer on the exterior, with a shoulder just long enough to touch the back of the inner wall? Just thinking....

I never saw a kit to retrofit an older truck. Seems like it would be too big a liability for them to offer that. The new body style 99 up trucks have them factory.

Slowpoke, have a friend that owns a truck wrecking yard. I will ask him and see what he comes up with. Will let you know in a couple of days.

Sprint 6, can you describe the anchor? Is it a plate welded to the sheet metal with a D ring or similar, or some other method?
My '98 truck has a double wall behind the seat.
Thanks,

Don't know where you live but here in Canada the GM Dealer installed the tether for us free of charge on a Cavalier, apparently one freebie per household...can't beat that.

Here in Northern California as well as the rest of the US, dealers are supposed to install one unit no charge.
But if they can't find the anchor or it's no longer available. it doesn't make much difference.

It attaches to the seat back, not the wall. I seem to recall something about drilling a hole in something, I don't know, then a clip that goes into the clamp for the center seat belt. I cant remember now. That's been 20 years ago.
