So I want to build a sawbuck

Figure just the 3 "X" variety that you see pictured all over the internet. What are some good dimensions for stability? I have a lot of Ash logs to saw into firewood. I can make them any length but 8-10 ft is about the easiest to transport with the loader. Any thoughts and ideas appreciated.

Dave, if you make them out of scrap steel pipe they'll last forever. As for the spreader bar, make the end "X"s telescope to the center "X". Nice to have it adjustable & then compact it down to move to another location. HTH

I built a three-legged saw buck about 15 years ago.
I call it my "half-a-sawbuck".
I have cut into the nails holding it together a few times.
A couple of years ago I picked up a whole box of 10d copper nails at a garage sale. Never saw copper nails that big before but I intend to use them when building a new "half-a-sawbuck" as I would think copper would be more forgiving to my chain.
I guess aluminum nails would also be better than steel.
