"Of the six sites in the U.S. where researchers are trying to figure out how to integrate unmanned aircraft into civilian airspace, only North Dakota's can fly high both day and night.

The Federal Aviation Administration approved a plan last week that allows drones to be flown up to 1,200 feet above the entire state and permits flights at night, a combination that makes North Dakota unique, since other test sites are limited to a 200-foot blanket and daylight hours."
Up all night

400 yards is not out of effective rifle range.
Lot of people can shoot that far and hit what they are aiming at. BTDT many a time.

But where will the round go if you miss ? If you fire anything but shot into the sky i hope you lose your right to bear arms.

Even bird shot....My shop got peppered will falling shot from dim witted neighbor 500ft away shooting in the air at mud swallows.

Obso, just saying that there are stupid people that would do something like that. My definition of gun control is hitting what you aim at. Have never taken even a questionable shot at anything. Was taught gun responsibility at a very early age. Part of growing up when I was young. Many moons ago.

Drones are the least of our worries. On the TV news yesterday evening, they interviewed a representative of a company that is building small satellites. Their goal is to eventually have enough of these small satellites orbiting the earth that virtually every square mile of the earth will be photographed at least once per day. There is no place to hide.

Tell me about it. I was telling my wife about how hard I was working on our retirement home (she was still working in another state)
and then the latest satelite photo showed my golf cart with me over at a neighbor's house goofing off. Try explaining that.

When I was doing insurance inspections, if we encountered a 6' high privacy fence around a back yard we were required to take a photo of the fence from no higher than our own eye level and submit it as a reason we were not able to access the back yard or rear of the house. We did not attempt entry to the back yard.

One inspector thought he'd be cute. He held his camera over a 6' privacy fence and took a photo. Turned out he got a great shot of the homeowner's 14 year old daughter indulging in some topless sunbathing--and she saw the camera. You wouldn't believe how the stuff hit the fan over that.

What would prevent a drone from doing the same thing?

Plant lots of shade trees, and keep an industrial fan around, 2 things they don't like trees and wind.

Same for the satellites.

(quoted from post at 17:05:32 08/24/15) I would be concerned about this type of drone !

I think I heard that California (of all places) is actually looking into applying trespassing laws to drone flight over private property.
Gotta protect the celebrities I guess.

might be a little labor intensive, but here is an option for privacy... no drones back then... but those pesky bombers !
