How Many Pistons?

If you were to inventory all of your gas and diesel equipment, how many pistons would you have total? I'm at 78 right now, all gas, counting the old trucks, tractors, and on down
to the chainsaw. Good thing I don't have to replace all of the spark plugs every year. If anyone has a Wankel, this complicates matters.

I would not even try to add them all up. I have cars trucks tractors lawn mowers weed eaters and motorcycles and a school bus and well just to many thing to try to count

82 so far on tractors and equipment, not counting any trucks, cars, motorcycles or light aircraft. Don't have any boats, so I have that going for me.

Dang it now see you made me think of a few others I would have to count in the boat motors I have on the place. Forgot them and forgot the Army mule I have and the gen set

I have cut way back. I only have 36 if I include the steam engine. My son has at least 69 on our farm. Grand total of 105.

This is known as the Cylinder Index. It was started some 15-20 years ago by a radio talk show host in the Twin Cities.

The premise is that the measure of your manhood is directly proportional to the number of internal combustion cylinders you have under your control. If the number doesn't at least equal your age you are in trouble! :D

I haven't added up mine lately. The last time I checked it was close to 200.

(quoted from post at 08:41:33 08/21/15) If it hasn't run in 2015, it doesn't deserve being counted, as in junkyard stuff!

But if the potential is there, it deserves to be counted. I counted up to 65 pistons, but that is counting the pistons that are not in a cylinder, but neither are they junk.

'm sticking with "have been run in 2015".

Hey...no fair
summer is awful short up here
all my stuff runs good, but I've been pretty busy in this 3-4 month window of no snow.
A few tractors and one truck haven't been fired up yet this summer......running out of time too!
I can't help with the piston count....I have to count tractors 3 times to get the same number twice when someone asks me :)

I am at 65 not to bad. lots to think of.
Now if you think of "pistons" add a bunch! break cylinders have pistons, master cylinders, calipers, hyd cylinders, My head hurts!

I'll up mine to 95 but if I count the ones that haven't run in 2015 it falls back to 81. If I add up the runnable Pistons its 91.

With 30 tractors,20 combines,10 hay balers,6 trucks,5 cars,(10) extra engines,mowers,saws,etc it has to be close to 400...
