Can someone identify this wasp?

Wasp tunnels underground. Caught this one carrying a locust. It has a stinger identical to common wasp.

Looks to be a cicada killer. Also known as a cicada wasp or sand hornet.

I'll second this, they are harmless unless you are a large insect.

Yes, cicada killer wasp. Have had lots of them here in SE PA the last few years. A large digger wasp species. They dig lots of burrows (10 to 20 inches deep)(really messed up the lawn last year). The female is larger than the male and can fly with a cicada though the cicada may be twice the weight of the wasp. The cicadas are placed in the burrows to serve as food for the eggs/grubs.
Had at least 40 burrows here in my lawn last year. So far only four this year.
