These 2 items showed up at the hospital thrift shop where I volunteer. the shafts have 1-10 on one side spaced about 1 1/4' apart and 10-50 on the other side spaced about 1 1/2" apart.

(quoted from post at 11:15:50 08/19/15) Look like old balance beam scales to me.

We had a set of these on the farm.
Called them "Steelyards"
I think both of these are missing the little
pear shaped sliding weights.

I have one of those a friend gave me at our tractor clubs Christmas gift exchange. He said it was a fur/pelt scale. And he should know as his family is in the business for several generations. Now THAT is a tough farming enterprise!

Fur/pelt weighing may have been one of it's uses.....However, practically every farm had one back in the day and used it for weighing just about anything including chickens, rabbits and other salable items.
We also had a very large one on the farm with 3 different sized weights that, as I recall could weigh up to 500 Lbs.
We used that one for weighing hogs mostly but it is still used by my wife's cousin to weigh deer.
