Have a china car jack unknown brand that needs fluid.
it still works just not as high as before.

what is best guess to put in it?

came from wally world some years ago

Go to the auto parts store and ask for hydraulic jack oil. I can tell you, do not use hytran oil, while it is a thin hydraulic oil, it is still too thick for hyd. jacks and the jack won't work in cold weather.

I use ATF in all my jacks but yes there is a special oil called hyd jack oil made just for jacks so it is your call on which you use

while 'jack oil / plain hyd oil' is the correct answer.. as old is saying. 'any oil' works..

Me.. on a cheapy jack? I put gear oil in them. more viscosity.. etc. I have chinese jacks over 25 ys old. some just have gear oil in them and oem seals. others have replaced orings from universal sets and gear oil. Havn't had to throw one out yet.

some were free fromthe dump and just needed a oring out of a milti kit ( also china ). or just needed me to pry out the plastic plug int he side of the case and add oil.

I have a small 2t floor jack that was free that simply needed oil... it got gear oil. that jack is over 20ys old.

hydraulic jack oil is the only thing I ever saw approved for 1. Its cheep and available at most all parts places.

Gear oil only works in the south, up here in winter even hyd Jack oil gets hard to pump in winter

Old having used your ATF mixture for unlocking engines and as penetrating lube I must ask tongue in cheek. Do you also use ATF around the house, kitchen, maybe in the boudoir???????????? LOL

Yes I do use it in the house to lube fans and clean and lube my guns and most any thing that needs to be cleaned and lubed. I keep a small bottle of it in the house for things that need lubed from time to time
