I'm looking at buying a cover for my daughters future car. It was my moms car, 94 Taurus, nothing special, just want to keep it from getting sun baked and covered in tree sap, and to keep it out of sight of the city, it's not registered or inspected.

The cover will go on and stay on, probably for about 2 years. I see a wide span of prices, from $20 to $300!

Obviously the $20 model is not an option, but neither is one worth more than the car! LOL

Any recommendations?

I presume you are talking about a canvas cover. People who spend the winter in AZ, used to buy car covers to put over their cars when they went back home for the summer. Unfortunately, those car covers get to flapping in the wind and wear the paint off. Over time they tear here and there and get larger pieces of canvas flapping in the wind that really wear off the paint.
Don't see people using those car covers anymore; re-paint jobs are too expensive.

I haven't looked at them in person, just what's on Ebay. They appear to be plastic, probably like a disposable tarp. Some have cotton linings, which would be a plus for protecting paint. Those are in the $40-50 range.

Dont get a waterproof cover. It will hold moisture in and the interior will mildew. A good breathable cotton with a flannel inside to protect the finish.

No car cover will last more than a few months in AZ. Find a place that will be in the shade after 1200. Wash it once a month. It will be fine. If not see Earl.
