Pressure washer

I am looking for a new pressure washer. I found a Simpson presure washer that is about what I need. Just occasional use but I need one. Has anybody ever had a Simpson or do you know if they are good machines? I have gone through 2 in about 20'years. Both times the pump quit before the engine. For a little more than replacing the pump I can start over. Thanks, Tommy

Whoever "simpson" is, it's unlikely they made the pump or the engine, just a made-up name put on a unit assembled from an engine and a pump from "The Land of Almost Right".

I hope U am wrong on this, so check out the engine and see if it a reputable known brand, and the same with the pump.

That is what matters, who made the engine and pump, NOT the name printed on the box you carried it out of the "big box store" in!

I checked out various pressure washers about a year-and-a-half ago; Simpson had really bad reviews. Do you belong to Sam's Club? The Blackhawk that they sell got good reviews, but they are also carrying some other brand that I never heard of before. Some of them still have the Blackhawk washers though.

I saw this one at SAMs. The engine was a Honda but don't know the pump maker. I have a generator with a Honda engine and the coil went bad. It was almost impossible to find a coil for it. The shop finally got one in for scrap and got the coil off it.I will look at different ones before I buy. Don't need a top dollar one but want something you can get parts for. Thanks, Tommy

I don't live anywhere near any of the big chain stores, Bomgaars is 30 miles away and the closest store with any to look at. Cheapest one they had on hand was over $400, which, didn't have an issue with that price (might have been a Simpson?). But I looked online and found one with the same specs for cheaper on sale. Sale has ended, but I got a Generac 2500 PSI from Lowes. With tax and free shipping, total paid to have it brought to my door, $212. Basic, but for the price, can't complain, used it a lot so far. Their washers have "good enough" reviews, plus the warranty, so, even if something did bother, it was cheap enough that I wouldn't care. Most guys around have the commercial hot ones to clean out their trailers, but for occasional use, didn't see the point in spending that much, though hot is much better for grease. Could have gotten a stouter one, but this is stripping paint off my fence and buildings, and I have to be careful or it roughs up the wood, so strong enough. Latest sale I see (also over), Generac 6602 was $315 shipped from Amazon. Some people don't like stuff like that shipped in vs. pickup at store, but when it's cheaper to do that for me, I don't mind, plus most major stuff is over an hour away.

The new three piston ceramic pump just came in the mail today. I made a mistake "saving money" by purchasing a cheaper axial pump.

It may have been a clone. The man at the shop said there were Honda engines and then there were Honda engines built cheaper for the big boxes to sell cheaper. I don't know. Tommy

fyi
one of the worst things you can do to a direct drive pressure washer is off and on, off and on, pull the trigger and keep it pulled, the shock takes out the pump,
that's why I prefer a belt drive

I just walked over to my brothers to help my nephew put a tool box together and there sat a brand new Simpson pressure washer. I'll ask him how he likes it when I see him. Does have the Honda engine on it but I didn't look to see what brand of pump was on it
