c engine kit

I'm sure its here somewhere on this forum but I can't bring it up. My question is, a bought a engine kit for a farmall C and the piston rings that came in the kit have no instructions on how they should be installed. Example, Groove up or down. 2nd is the oil ring is a one piece, no upper and lower on the oil control ring.
Called the place where I bought it. He tried to help but he was only able to look at the pic and could not really help me. Just want to know if any body ran in to this and will that one piece oil control ring work.

Search "compression ring orientation" under images, there will be diagrams of how they install. Better yet, if there is a brand name on them, go to that specific site.

The one piece oil ring is just another way of manufacturing them. If there is no mark, dimple, or writing, and are symmetrical, it will go either way.

Best check the end gaps though, just to be safe.
 
Steve has a good suggestion. The one piece oil ring is, I guess you could say, the original style. Years ago they were all one piece rings, until someone designed he multi-piece ring which, believe it or not, seems to work better.
 
Some rules of thumb in case you cant find any info
Look for a dot on the side of the rings, if found it goes up
Lacking a dot a bevel or notch on the inside of the ring goes up and on the outside it goes down
Only oil ring I have ever seen that was directional was on a Detroit diesel.
 
Thanks for all your quick responses. I went on line and I couldn't find anything. So when the kid came home I had her go down and take a look. She wasn't happy but she did it. She said it looks like something was there. So I grab a magnifying glass and took a look. Sure enough there was a very, very faint mark there. Didn't tell you the order but the packs were all the same. The rings are RIK RST154 (RIKEN INDUSTRIAL CO)
