Pacific reloading press questions

I inherited my pap's reloading press and bunch of materials to get started on reloading. Unfortunately he passed several years before I could learn the trade. I have a new reloading guide, have done a lot of research and am getting ready to start reloading. My question is can you buy any replacement parts for these presses or should I just start saving to replace the press? I have a few boxes of stuff but I can tell from the manual that I am missing the primer feeder and a few other little bits and pieces. Nothing that will make it unsafe or not practical to use. Just convenience items mostly. Suggestions on where to look?

I have the DL-155 shot shell press from the 1970's and still use it. Yes, you can get parts and they are an excellent press.,

That's a good press. You shouldn't have any problems. I would get a Lee hand priming tool or an equivilant anyway. I have some reloading experience, if you have questions just ask.

Get a RCBS hand held primer tool. Much easier to use than the primer on the press tooling usually. It works with regular shell holders.

FF: just a few notes--I don't know exactly what model of Pacific press you have, but assuming it's a standard single-stage and not a progressive, I'll add another vote for getting an offline primer. Both Lee and RCBS units work fine, and both will give you better feel for when the primers are properly seated (and, equally important, when they're NOT properly seated) than priming on the press. You probably want to stay away from the units that feed from strips, if only because they can be harder to find the strips for, though that's your call, and I prefer the units that feed from a flat tray (like the Lee and RCBS) over the ones that feed from a tube, as the idea of a hundred primers stacked end-to-end doesn't appeal to me, though again that's your call. Don't trust just one reloading guide--double-check the info with a second source--there's plenty of information on and offline, and not all of it agrees, plus many manuals limit themselves to their own products. As noted, Hornady may offer Pacific parts, and there's the obvious E-bay, Gunbroker, and such to look at. If we know what else you're missing, we may be able to offer workarounds or alternate methods--let us know. Reloading is a fun, worthwhile hobby, but, as should be obvious, it requires SERIOUS attention to detail to avoid dangerous or even tragic outcomes.

Been reloading since the mid-1970's. Take everbody's advice below and buy the Lee or the RCBS hand primer. Not much to go wrong with a single stage press, regardless of make. Pacific had a good reputation. I've used the press based priming arm on occasion, but once you use a Lee or RCBS hand primer you won't want to monkey around with the press mounted primer arm.
