Leaking fuel tank on Tanaka weed wacker

Fuel tank has a major leak at the seam. Plastic fuel tank and in this day and age is there something out there that will really seal this tank?? Looks like there are no replacement fuel tanks available?? I've bought a Stihl but there is really nothing wrong other than the tank on the Tanaka. I'd like to hang onto it as a spare or to keep the saw blade on it for the heavier work! Any help appreciated!! Thanks in advance EGBinOR
 

I used an electric soldering iron to seal a leak in a small hedge cutter fuel tank . A little patience and care saw it seal well and it has lasted for a few years now . Just run the bit over the split seam first , this sticks the edges together . Then push melted plastic from the sides into the centre along the seam . Once this is done and the seam filled run the bit over the rough surface to smooth it out and consolidate the plastic over the crack .
 
Go on ebay there are several listed. Tanaka is echo over here if I remember correctly. Check your local dealer. I don't like melting fuel tanks cause a bad seam will have gas travel down the seam. Still a dange. My two cents. Jeffcat

I have repaired several fuel tanks with a product SEALALL. It is a little pricy, available from many parts stores, some Wall-Mart's, and Amazon.
Trick is to thoroughly clean-scrape and then uses lacquer thinner, if possible to get to. Should be applied to inside tank.
