I don't know what these are . They have the tang of a file , seem to be five sided and have a very slight twist. They go from a little over an 1/8 to very small. I have no idea where I even got them . Brookstone co Mass Made in Germany.

Brookstone Company is/was a mail order company out of Massachusetts. I used to get their catalog. They were known to source tools etc. from Germany and other countries.

They are called brooches (sp?) My father was a watchmaker and he had a set of them. They are reamers and his went down to needle size.

I'm with JerryD--they look to be watchmaker's (also sometimes called Jeweler's) broaches. Used for removing burrs, enlarging holes, etc. Still available--link below shows one set picked at random off Google--I'm sure a bit more research will get you better pictures if you wish, but that's the direction I'd start in.

You got it there guy. I use them in commercial kitchen equipment. You very carefully and slowly enlarge the little hole in the end of the gas valves till you get the correct flame size. Most of them are very small but if you are working on home or industrial gas heat systems, some of the holes you can throw a hamster through! They are very hard and have very sharp edges that cut the brass.

Bruches, brooches, broaches or what ever. I have had them in my tool boxes in the tool shop for over 40 years and have reordered several times. They break easy and get dull quick in steel. I bought them under jewelry or needle files in my catalogs.
