Dayton Winch Sparking

I have a Dayton 2 ton winch on my trailer. I noticed that sparks were coming from the positive battery terminal sometimes. Is this a problem? Thanks.

Yes, it will be a problem if it isn't corrected.

It means 1 of 2 things:

Either the connection is loose or corroded. You didn't say if the sparks were from inside or outside, but if it's inside, there could be a broken solder connection or a loose nut/stud connection, would probably need to be opened up and resoldered, tightened, cleaned, etc. If outside it would just need the cable cleaned and tightened. If left uncorrected, the stud will eventually overheat, could transfer heat to the windings and cause more damage.

OR, there is something shorting to ground. Again, could be inside or outside. Should be obvious once it's looked into, a connection is touching the case, the insulator grommet is broken or crushed, etc. Can be very damaging if it goes to full ground!

Sure is, bad connection makes heat and
lower voltage to motor which can damage it.
Simply clean the faces and reassemble with
some conductive antisieze compound.

YES

I would remove the cable, clean and wire brush the battery post and cable end, replace it good n tight and give her a try.
