What is the correct way to lay metal siding? 9 inch ribbded. My two sheds that I looked at looks like the short side is on the outside. I figured the long side would go to the outside though they fit well either way. It is hard to distinguish which side is which. Being on the inside, it probably won't make any difference.

Take a real close look at the two edges. One edge will have a small groove rolled into the side of the ridge. That is the underside. It is designed so the capillary action of rain water will only go about half way up the side of the ridge, not making it to the top and over into your building. In the picture at the link - the right hand side is the under lap.
