Way O.T. There is a two year old 30X30X10 going at auction soon three miles from me. Any good and cheep ideas about moving it whole. I can t skid it,the state is paving the hwy right now, skidding and new asphalt will not mix.

30x30x10 what? Building? That's guessing those are dimensions in ft. Or is it a model number of something?

Professional house movers could do it but for what that would probably cost, you could just buy a new building and put it where you want.

Only other option would be to skid it across the fields, or just dismantle it and move it piece by piece.

Any house movers near you? They will likely have a quick answer as you will probably not be the only one asking about that building.

Search the archives of this site, there are lots of discussions about moving buildings and pole barns. It often involves cutting off the poles at ground level.

Do you have a site already prepared? That can be expensive too.

How is the building built? Does it have a metal roof? Is it screwed on? Are the Sidewalls screwed on? Based on the sidewall height, not likely it can be moved whole, at least not without having to have multiple powerlines moved along the way. If it is screwed together, I would label every sheet, take them off, take it apart, move all the pieces, and re-assemble. That would be cheapest, however, before the auction, make sure you get a quote for a building the same size new, then set your auction bid at no more than half the cost of new materials, otherwise you are wasting your time and money, the hassle of tearing down and rebuilding would not be worth it. You may be able to only remove the roof, cross brace the rest, jack it up and put it on a trailer, haul home, re-set and put the roof back on? Lots of effort, make sure the reward is worth it.

I looked into this, moving 2 different buildings. After looking it over, unless it was free, it didn't pencil out. I bid on one, and dropped out after the bid went past $500. It was 3 miles down the road, straight shot, no power lines or trees in the way. It went for $1900, to the contractor that had put it up 2 years prior. He had crew dismantle it the next day, it only took about 4 hours to completely load it up on a lowboy. I heard that he never got paid for it, so he was maybe more motivated...

504 were are you at? i have moved 3 buliding in the last 20 years. i have a home made set up you pull down the road. i have my e-mail open and can explain how i did it.

Pole barn, after doing some more checking the owner is going to make the bidder tear it down. She is afraid that the yard will be torn up.14 inches of rain in the last three weeks you won t even get a pick up in there, and only two weeks to do the job.. I think I will pass unless they pay me to move it. A brand new one installed, is only $8,000.00
