Wife called me to the bathroom this morning, floor flooded, about 1/4 inch of clear water. She had filled the tub for her bath, peed, left the room for a few minutes, and when she came back in, the flood. I, for the life of me, cannot figure what would cause this. I tried to re-create a scenerio where the toilet would do this, it hasn't been clogged lately, been flushing normally.

check the flaot valve. i have seen them stick, overfill the bowl during a clog event... bowl runs over, and after a few seconds the valve finally shuts off, then the extra water weight in the bowl finally makes the clog go down, so bowl water depth looks normal

Flush the toilet, look for water running down from the top of the tank. Mine did that, the valve was spraying water on the bottom of the lid, running down the outside of the tank. Also look around the base of the tank where it attaches to the bowl. Base at the floor, wax ring.

Are there any other sources of water near the bathroom? Something coming under the wall from the next room?

And there is bath tub, overflow pipe, overflow flange where it attaches to the back of the tub, faucet stem leaking inside the wall?
