Pressure washer engine

I have a Craftsman pressure washer with a 6HP briggs&Straton OHV engine. Using it today it was running real good with no problems. When I shut it down I heard a strange noise. Went to start it later and it is very hard to pull through like it had pressure in the pump. It doesn't because I took all the hoses off and loosened pressure reg and took spring out. I can't pull it fast enough to start it. What might be the problem?

(quoted from post at 22:16:25 06/23/15) I have three in my shop. Pumps locked up. Cheaply made pumps.

Just got a chance today to check pressure washer out. I don't think it is pump because I take spark plug out and it turns real free. Put spark plug back and it turned real hard. IMHO it has to be engine problem. If pump I would think it would be hard to pull through with spark plug out. Any ideas?

Flywheel hasn't moved on crankshaft. Valves are working, apparently correct. After more research I find the cam might be bad. Now my gripe, Fuel tank went bad and nearly $40 for that. Now if cam is bad that is over $40. This engine has probably under 25 hours on it. After reading reviews on this engine it just isn't worth putting more $ in it.

About 8 years I had a mower with a flathead B&S on it that needed rebuilt. I bought a Harbor Freight engine that has run perfectly ever since. That engine cost less than the parts to rebuild the original engine and at $80 it was about the same as 2 parts for this B&S Intek. I had always bought made in USA but when I can buy China engine complete for the price of 2 parts on the B&S, guess what I'm gona do?

Decompression part of the cam could be broken. I have seen that a few times. Parts prices are getting out there. I have an intek engine in the shop.
swallowed a valve. Parts will cost more than a new engine.

OK, since you set valve lash with piston 1/4" past TDC in order to get the decompressor out of the way, then shouldn't there be a difference in valve lash at TDC and 1/4" past? If there is no difference then that would prove decompressor isn't working? If not working and I set valve lash at say .001 or 2 would that open that valve just a little early relieving a little compression. If it is stuck and not broke and if I could get it running with some b-12 or something it might free it up. Just thinking outside the box. :D
