We have a 20 year old fiberglas tub and shower surround which has a 3" crack in the tub bottom that passes water when stepped on "just right".
Cannot get to the bottom of the tub.

Is a fix reasonable? If so, what? I have no fiberglas experience.

Hard to say, but I know its done, we have one here that was repaired 15 years ago, but leaked like you said. I find the 3 piece surround and new tub kits are relatively easy to install, I did one across the lane for the neighbor, and another for a long time friend. Cost effective and no worries about a repair failing. Those kinds of leaks will cause costly or labor intense to repair damage. We had a washing machine here that leaked for many years, the sub floor and decking was destroyed and it spread under walls. The demolition was not a lot of fun to get it all out so it could be rebuilt against good materials, even hit a darned copper pipe rising to the 2nd floor with the sawzall, just slipped, and it was a 90 where I had a heck of a time to get the water out so it could be soldered. Highly advisable to make sure any repair is strong, or just replace it, given the costs down the road if a leak gets past you for any length of time.

There are people who specialize in this and do a great job. We had a shower stall done and after the repair, you could not tell there was ever a problem. Your best bet to find these people are to call a local small chain hotel. That seems to be the best market for such repairs, and they should know someone who can do it. If that doesn't work, call a local boat shop, as the fiberglass work is the same as for boat repair. You would think that the local plumbers would know, but I guess they would rather install a new tub for you than to steer you to a simple repair.

Well first off most are not fiber glass they are in fact plastic. If you can not pull it out to repair it very hard to do so an have it hold and look good. I have repaired a few of them over the years with a fiber glass kit and the matting But as I said the out come does not look real good since it will be a different color then what your is etc.
