New Dishwasher

I have been looking at a new dishwasher. Most say it takes about 3 hours to do a load. Does anyone make one that washes them in a shorter time. seems like a waste of electricity. Thanks

un into same bull with laundry machines....takes hour or two compared to 15 minutes with old machine & they "claim" it saves energy!

The last time I was looking at a new dishwasher the wife said I can't afford her. Then the fight stated.

We have a Bosch, going on 6 years old now Works great, nice and quiet. Bosch has a 1-hour cycle and also a 30 minute cycle. However, with out soft water we found that the 30 minute cycle doesn't rinse all of the soapy water out of the bottom so wife uses the 1 hour cycle.

Lowes has a Bosch model around $600 that is the best dishwasher that we've ever had.

Steve.

We had a GE dishwasher for many years. My wife decided that it wasn't working well enough, so we bought a high-dollar Bosch unit to replace the old GE unit.

The Bosch unit does not do one bit better than the 15 year old GE did. If I had to do over (without losing my wife of 51 years), I'd buy a mid-priced unit of whatever brand was in stock in the store, and be done with it.

At least, that's been my experience.

How about 90 seconds? I can have one shipped to you for $3600 plus freight. It is an ADS model ETAF.

this the type for 90 seconds?

I would NOT recommend an LG. First 2 years spent half of the value on "Warranty " repair, first a hose, then the whole Motor assy. Assembly was covered, but not labor He had to crack open like a walnut to replace. Since then I have replace the door gasket for leaking and it looks like I my have to do again soon. Unit is only about 7 yrs old. (Original was a Maytag, lasted 19 years)

Get a Frigidaire at Lowes for $250......just bought my second about a month ago. No whistles and bells, just heavy wash, and wash....heavy is just more time. Choice of heated dry or not. Quiet as a mouse. Can't tell you how much water it uses. Had one for 20 years and wore out the top shelf bearings so I bought another of the same thing. Price back then was $200. Not a bad increase if you ask me for that many years. Had been using GE since late 60's. Put one of these in my DIL's house and liked it so much went right down and got me one. No more GE.

The main reason that the ADS machine that I referred to lasts longer,, other than it being commercial, is that it has a horizontal shaft motor and pump. The failure of all the vertical shaft pumps is that the lowest point in the pump is the bellows of the shaft seal. Little gritty particles get down in there and they stay there, wearing the bellows until it leaks. a few weeks after it leaks the motor goes. The only domestic unit that I have seen with a horizontal shaft is the Bosch.
