South Bend Lathe

I picked up a South Bend today for 100 bucks . It has five chucks. But it has no table it was on the floor and appears to have had a table where the motor mounted underneath. Where can I get a table for a lathe . I just looked in MSC catalog and nothing really suitable there. It is a nice machine but needs mounting.
Anybody have a Grizzly catalog ? maybe in there ?

[b:5bff9a1cfc]Nice find[/b:5bff9a1cfc], regardless of condition. If I had it, I would improvise/build a table to my liking. Would be good to fabricate similar to original if photo is available.
Do you have a model number?

Have you been to the Grizzly website.... looks like they have a variety of stands for their lathes... one might look good under your South Bend.

Mere's my "little" South Bend lathe... on a double axle car trailer.

Mine is similar--someone built the table it's on--just a standard wooden one with one drawer for storing tooling. Does it have the tensioning system that the motor mounts on? If not, you'll have to fabricate something, but it shouldn't be that difficult.

I fabricated a table of 2 x 2 x 1/4" angle with 3/8" thick plate top,for my Craftsman. If I were to do it again, I would use 1/2" thick or more for the top

i have a small south bend apx 42 inches between centers, if you have what i think you do it should have 1 set of flat belt cone pullys. the motor is under the leg on the lft side and you should have a lever on the left that goes over center to lock the tenson on the motor once you have put your belt in the cone pully were you what the speed set at. i would use a half inch plate to make a new mount. i can take pictures of mine if that helps and will leave e-mail open as i can do that on my i-phone.

Looking forward to seeing pictures of it. Sounds like it may be a South Bend 9 inch or a 10K. They look the same, but if you put a 10K tailstock on a 9 inch, the centers are 1/2 inch apart! That is how I found out they made both models. The serial number should be down at the right hand end of the bed, stamped in the flat part.
The nameplate might say it is a 'Model A', 'Model B' or 'Model C'. I think that has something to do with what type of gearbox etc. it has.
