Ferguson to 20 conversion to 12 volt

I have a Ferguson TO-20. I am a tempting to convert it from 6 volt to 12 volt. There are several kits available for this. The one kit I ordered did not fit properly. My question is .Do I need to remove the flat piece of metal that is sticking up off of the mounting area for the alternator. See photo...as you can see in the photo , the mounting bracket was nowhere near the correct fit for this application. Thank you for any help.

I converted a TO30 once. I think the generator is mounted different on a 20. If you have a universal bracket. I'm sure it will need modified to fit. If the bracket was made for the TO20. I'm guessing you need to completely remove the generator bracket to make the alt bracket work.
A photo of the brackets would help a lot.

You cannot post a picture here from a file on your computer, it must be posted on a hosing web site. I use Tiny Pic but there are plenty of others. Once you have downloaded it to a web site most of them will have a link you can cut and paste here where it says "optional image URL" if your chosen site has no direct link you simply bring the photo up, go to the address bar and copy the URL from there.

The photo didn't work out - I think there is a waiting period of some sort before the site allows you to post pictures.

I've made several alternator brackets - I measure the existing generator mounts carefully, and measure the alternator to determine what is needed for it to mount. You should be able to use the genny mount for a hole pattern for where it bolts to the block. It's really a pretty simple task - the belt needs to run true, nothing rubbing or vibrating, and all of the wiring secured where it won't pinch, rub, or get burned on a hot manifold. I drill all of the holes before I weld the parts together. My "kit" is a plentiful scrap pile.

Hello Hutch (OH),

Go to the advanced posting tools and select upload photo. You will see that you can select a photo
from your hard drive. He may not be hitting the proceed window after he sees the picture,

Guido.

Wow, here is the picture of the bracket. It looks like it has to be rotated.
