Now that I have my lathe and mill set up I still needed some measuring equipment that I didn't have money for. Today my neighbor gave me a small box of tools that used to belong to his son (died) that he has no use for. When I got it home I looked inside. 2 vernier calipers (one mechanical, one digital), a full set of inside bore "snap" gauges, and a set of 4 calipers (0 to 4") all almost like new. How did I get so lucky?

You must be a good neighbor. He obviously thought so. Honor the memory of his son by putting them to good use.

Making something small and useful for your neighbour using his son's tools would be a nice gesture .

I already did a couple of years ago (which is probably why he thought of me). He had a couple of non-functional very old guns
and I basically "restored" them to working condition.
