Garden Watering

I have a small garden about 8 rows of approx 25' and I'm tired of fussing with 50' soaker hoses. I would like to try the drip watering, but not sure what I would need and the type that would be the best. Any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated.

I set up my garden with 50' rows. Then I set out soaker hose for each row using a multi hose manifold with short garden hose to each row.
That setup will stay there for the season. I can water all or any combination of rows when ever I chose.
When not in use, everything gets rolled onto a large wooden spool I got from the power co. Works for me.

mozark- tri-pod water sprinklers.! These sprinlers raise up to six feet so they get above your plants and rain down on them.

I used them and they work great.

I have used everything under the sun and Drip Tape is what I use now, very cheap and easy, uses very little water. Google it, I believe John Deere even has their own product. I am in Texas and I know what its like to be dry. JB Dyer

I like drip tape hooked to manifold similar to Jim in ma has for his soakers. I use elivated tank for water source after Texas sun split a couple of hoses under pressure. I can either divert rain off house and shop to the tank or fill it with hose. Mulching realy helps also.

Rain-flo out of East Earl PA. makes a nice garden drip kit.Check out their
website, download the catalog and go to page 13. Joe

I have a small garden, mostly tomatoes, peppers, a few pickles. I plant with a 12 inch
post hole digger. Back fill hole with last year's horse poo and lime. Then don't fill
hole all the way, leave 5-6 inches. My garden hose will deliver 10 gallons a minute. 30
seconds will put 5 gallons in the hole. That way, I don't water the weeds. Garden is
covered with grass and leafs. Angle dirt so when it rains, it fill the holes too. In
under 10 minutes, done with the water and plants get a good soaking. No weed problems
either. I plant and pick, no tilling, no fuss, no mess,

I built one out of 1/2" and 3/4" pvc pipe. I
use the 3/4" as a runner along the top then
come off to half inch with a ball valve on
each section. Each section consists of 5 25
inch rows with an 1/8" hole every 18 inches.

I bought a drip tape kit a couple of years ago and was very pleased with the results. I had a 75 ft main line of 1/2 in. black plastic and ran the 35 ft lateral drip tape that was spaced (dripped) at 12 inch intervals. I planted the plants after the tape was laid down so I could plant in the right spot but you can lay it down beside the row at any point in the growing season and still get all the benefits. I used a 330 gallon tote in the back of my truck to gravity feed the system. I could run 5 rows at one time and drain the tank in a couple hours. I hooked it up to my well but had trouble with water quality plugging the filter so I just paid the 25 cents in town and filled my tank at the water tower.

Here's a link to the package I bought.

Thanks everyone for all the good info. Jim in ma, the soaker hoses, manifold, and everything was exactly what I've been doing right down to rolling all the hoses up on a big wooden spool. My poor soaker hoses have so many ruptures from excess pressure that I thought it was time for something else.
