Electric Pressure Washers

Anyone have a good experience with electric pressure washers? I don't need a 3500 psi gas pw, was thinking of something like a 2000 psi that's electric -- low maintenance. I don't need something that puts holes in concrete. Will 1500-2000 psi be enough clean my truck or equipment?

Depends on how much your time is worth. Having a ceramic triplex pump that can be connected to the hot water tap. Is more important than flow and pressure.
Few shops have a 20amp T-slot receptacle, 12 gauge wiring and 12 gauge extension cords.
I Would not consider less than a gas powered , ceramic triplex pump unit with soap injection.

Im guessing if it is just light dust / dirt you will be removing it would work ok. I don't think a lot of the electric ones have enough "ummph" to clean well.

I have both and find portability and ease of use to be more important than pressure and flow for things like deck, siding and car washing. Same as low price gas washers they are throw away units so you will not save money over the long haul replacing them.

I have a Campbell Hausfeld? 1800 psi 1.6 gpm electric I use on truck beds and wagons. Had this unit for 5 years, pump is throw away, but has worked pretty well to date. On oil/grease, takes a while. I think I paid $100. Works good on getting mud off my pickup trucks under carriages.

Many years ago I bought a new Hotsy brand pressure washer. I got the largest one offered that still ran on 115 volts so I could use it most anywhere. I did not want another engine to maintain ! Since I set my voltage limit to 115V this also limits your high pressure too I'm at least 1500 but think less than 2000 ? I don't remember now. These use kerosene to heat up the water so you have an unlimited supply of hot high pressure water. This has really been one of my best buys !!! It works great !!! You can't believe how much better the hot water cleans. I barely use any chemicals after getting it.

OI have a Karcher that is about 8-10 years old now; it works okay. I guess if I was buying a new electric, I'd buy the Blackhawk at Sam's Club. It has good reviews and is better organized than the Karcher. Just my opinion.

more costly than others but it has a triplex pump! AR650 Italian made. Lowes has them as well as online stores. heavy bugger to move, no wheels, but an excellent pump and compact package. could use other high pressure hoses and wands on this unit.

I bought 1 from Menards to clean the concrete slab in front of our honey processing shed. Works for that but pretty much useless for other projects.

You probably need to spend the money to get a descent power washers. I always buy cheap and have had nothing but trouble. I bought a Karcher and it broke the first day so I took it back and got another and the replacement broke within two weeks. Then I bought a Power Washer brand and it broke within a month. Then I bought a Harbor Freight power washer and it lasted about a year. I bought another one and it lasted about a month, lost the receipt so I bought another one to take the bad one back. Then the replacement went out and I managed to take it apart and mix the parts with the one that lasted a year and got it working. So far I've had a working one for six months.

Sounds like the cheap electrics won't cut it, except maybe the more expensive ones like at Northern Tool for $500 and up. I just bought a Ryobi 2000psi from HD yesterday to try it ... cheap $199, disappointing. Somehow they get away with lying about the psi rating. This thing could hardly knock the bugs off my truck bumper and the spray pattern was so narrow I could have washed it by hand in the same amount of time. I'll just have to spend more on a gas pw. Wish I could afford a hot pw, they are great.

Will 1500-2000 psi be enough clean my truck or equipment? Depends on what you mean by
clean. If you think 2000 psi is good enough to blast years of caked on oil/dirt, NO.
4000 psi has trouble.

If you mean, spray on water, use scrub brush to apply soap and remove a little dirt,
then rinse off with pressure, Yes.

I think it's a very big mistake thinking pressure is the key to cleaning tractors. I
use soap on a brush, scrub off oil/dirt, then use garden hose to wash off. Water can
do too much damage to bearing, gaskets and other things on equipment.

I just tried fixing a friends riding mower that was left out in the rain. Everything
is junk, transmission froze up, all electrical is junk, water/rust in carb. Water and
somethings don't mix. Sooner people figure that out, the better they will be.

geo, don't be afraid them. When used correctly they are great time savers. Duh ... 4000 psi will quickly take paint off sheet metal and bore holes in concrete!

I picked up a free one with a bad engine and replaced it with a 1.5 Hp electric motor. I like it, no maintenence, instant start, and it runs as long as I need it to.
