Hello,

It this just a toy? At 80Lbs I'm thinking probably not. Does any one have something like it?

Have shot several--they're a cheap toy at best. Obviously they're dangerous, even lethal, but so is a rock. They're typically poorly built and nothing I'd want to use for any serious purpose, and they're too weak to be legal for hunting anyway, at least in most areas that have regulations on crossbows.

My Son has one something like that. Last Fall he got a nice buck and a turkey with his.
He uses different bolts for game.

Pretty much a deadly toy at best. Ya you can kill small game and other things but you may have fun trying to aim it well. I own a REAL cross bow and it cost me $500 ten plus years ago. Brannet Quad 300 and I have killed a good many deer with it over the years

I took a course in guerilla warfare in the Marine Corps, and I've always thought a crossbow would be the ultimate guerilla weapon.

You could sneak around in the dark and create all manner of mayhem without a gunshot to give your position away. The basic premise of guerilla warfare is you NEVER engage your enemy in a head on confrontation, you hit him in his weakest spot and disappear before he can retaliate. A crossbow would be perfect for that.

You might be surprised how load a crossbow can be when shot if it is in fact a good high powered one. The one I own is almost as load as a 22 going off but it is also one that will throw and arrow around 300 feet per second

You might be fine for the first shot but the grunting and creaking and squeaking of getting it ready for the next shot would be your downfall.

The mini crossbows are toys you can put your eye out with, no more.

I experimented with one of those some years back for running wire in long crawl spaces. (actually they were spaces I couldn't crawl) I would shoot my pull string across the span. Wasn't real accurate though

Crossbows were used in Viet Nam by Hmong units with special forces and the Viet Cong used some also. some use was as a forage for food quiet tool for small game, some use as sentry disposal, ambush, harassment sniping. One was used to shoot a Huey- it was a big one and shot small tree trunks, the picture of Huey coming back to base with 'pointy tree trunk' in belly is still around on couple Vet sites. South Africa military has a couple incidents of crossbows and bows being used during the troubles, currently Nigerian vigilantes fighting Boko Haram have been seen with crossbows and bows, muzzle loaders.
