homelite 360 spark test

homelite 360 does not have spark plug wire. normally i insert test tool between end of plug wire and plug to visually show spark. 360 has two screws that hold on cover. do i have to cross two metal tabs ?

The 2 bolt cover you see is the solid state ignition for this saw. Try a new plug and if it will not start make sure your kill switch is not shorted to ground. If switch is good the solid state ignition module may be bad.

If I recall correctly, the 350/360 ignition is two part. One by the flywheel, and the one over the spark plug. Homelite provided a clear plastic test module you screwed on in place of the coil over the spark plug. A neon (or something) light would simulate spark in it, as you cranked saw, if module by the flywheel was OK.
I would never throw such a thing out. But I question whether the good local old Homelite dealer here could find it!
