Exterior Finish

My wife is refinishing some stepping stones for a friend of our grandkids. The stones are made of resin and she's painting with her acrylic paint.

What can we spray it with to keep the sun and weather from killing them again?

I couldn't figure out how to edit this, but it's her friends grand kids. I'm only 58, wouldn't have grand kids yet. The pic looks much better in person.

Exterior stone/slate sealer works very well . Available in one litre tins in semi and full gloss finishes .The addition of some fine dry pool filter sand sprinkled lightly onto the first coat will make a good anti slip surface .

A clear finish would be good however I would recommend an exterior water based spar varnish. The oil based counterpart has an initial yellow cast to it which will continue to yellow more as it ages. This will affect the colors of the paint especially the blue background which will turn green. Another option would be to use exterior oil based enamel to paint the stones. Then no clear coat would be needed. Still the acrylic paints will need to be exterior paints. Artist acrylics will quickly fade in the sun even with a spar over the top.

I'll be 55 in May and my grandaughter will be 13 in May. I was 21 when my daughter was born and she was 21 when her daughter was born.
