stihl ms170 washer??

I'm reassembling my stihl MS170 chainsaw and forgot how one piece went back together. Had to wait too long for parts. The part that has me confused is a flat washer that is a little concaved ( part# 1121 162 1001 ) and measures about 3in across. it goes on the inboard end of the clutch and is stamped (top). I don't know which way the concave faces and what the heck the "top" means. Any help would be appreciated !! Thanks in advance, EGBinOR

I have an MS390 that has the same washer. It goes on after installing the oil pump with the word "TOP" at the top and visible. Since this appears to be rotatable, I have no idea what the word "TOP" is for.
I am sure it has the same application.
I work on a lot of chainsaws and this 390 is the hardest to work on, of any saw I have ever dealt with.
I bet you will agree.

Thanks Jiles. I figured that the concave part with "top" faced outboard but, like you, the "top" makes no sense? I"m heading to the shop to put all back together!! Thanks again, just needed a little verification. EGBinOR

Yeah, that's what I figured, but most people would think it meant toward top of saw.
Kind of like a string trimmer with "this side up" written on the head when you are most likely installing with head upside down.
