OT: Is your winter over?

The equinox, technically the first day of spring in the U.S. (although not everywhere) was almost four weeks ago. Is everybody's winter weather finished now? Everybody who posts here, that is.

We didn't have a winter this year in the Pacific NW. There was virtually no change in the weather from mid fall to early spring---very mild with lots of rain (make that lots and lots of rain---we always get lots). From here it was hard to believe that the eastern half of the country was having one of the worst winters in living memory, while we had the warmest one ever recorded. Big country, I guess.

Well yes the weather is done now. Now we need to dry out before we can do much.
We call this mud or pothole season lol

I'd like to believe it's over, Stan, at least here in Northern NY, where it's been long and brutal, with record cold and lots of snow as well. Still, April is traditionally viewed as a winter month here, and snow in May is not out of the ordinary. Been camping on Memorial Day and woke up to a couple inches of snow, which was especially annoying as a buddy and I hadn't bought a tent and were just using a tarp over a rope to keep the dew off. Made for some cold toes, as both of ours were sticking out the end of the tarp! The only nice thing about snow at this time of year as opposed to snow in, say, October, is that you know you won't have to look at it for the next 6 months. Been nice this week, which has pretty much ended the maple syrup season in all but the deepest woods, but we'll definitely get some nights below freezing and quite possibly another few dustings of snow before Spring's here for good.

Few more days of liquid precipitation. When a little drier I'll set out the tomatoes. Removed the glass over the beds two weeks ago, harvested all winter (when I could get through the ice).

Twice our normal annual snowfall, and far colder than normal winters. A French fan asked if our house performed well. No complaints, as always.

Four roughly equal seasons here, spring will last awhile. Forest redbuds are putting on a magnificent show. Now, if I could just find the turkeys that decimated my best morel patch...

We don't really have winter in the AZ desert. Now we're in early summer; looks like temps will be moving into the 90's soon.

Like you, not much of a winter here in central California. Unlike you, no rain...again. Worst drought in recorded history. It's in it's fourth year and may continue. We only really get rain in the winter, so it's kind of bleak.

Here in Vermont spring is starting to come in. Yesterday we hit 74' about 4:00PM. TV said it was the first time above 70' since Oct. 16 that is 180 days. Just had a farmer in today and he said we still have frost about 15 inches down. Some places it hit 7 feet this winter. TV said Jan.1 till March 31 was the coldest in 124 years. here. We still have 2 feet of snow in the mountains. They will ski here till May 30.

Why do I stay here!!!!!!!!!!

Looking for rain forecast so I can apply a little fertilizer to the bean field,.It was alfalfa for 8 years.

The big melt is on here in eastern nova scotia (since sunday). That said, more white sh!t is forecast for the weekend.

Been over for 6 weeks now. My rye headed out and I cut some of it just to find out that "April showers bring May flowers" is a trueism. Probably will just plow it back in cause it's going to mildew before I can get in and get it baled.

Our winter wasn't all that tough here in NWIA but it started sooner than normal. The last of the snow drifts have been gone a good three weeks, maybe a month. Nothing planted here but I suspect if we don't have anymore rain the planters will be rolling in a week. We've had three inches of rain in the past two weeks.

Most of the snow is gone here in MA - only left in the deep dark corners. The fields are clear.

Just starting to green up.

Temps still aren't consistently over 32 yet, but we're getting there.

We could still get a snow shower or two. Most likely it is over though. If I had the drill ready I think we could plant oats today if it doesn't rain. This is in central MI.

All the ice has melted off the lakes and rivers, and the frost is out of the ground now in Central MN, so... Yeah Sure winter's over here. Any snow falling after this is just a late snow shower. In a few more weeks the trees will start growing leaves and the lawns will turn green again.

I need to start brushing hogging areas turning green before they get to thick mowed first time Sunday, time again tomorrow to begin again. It's that time of year. Gotta hope for no rain to do it when you can

Ice is off the slough behind my house. Living room door is open right now and I'm finally listening to the frogs croaking.
They're a good month late.

Well, it WAS over until the last couple of days - been snowing (real heavy, wet snow) off and on. We had a dry winter so as they say 'We need the moisture' - Pretty good, not bad, can't complain :D

Last of the snow is finally gone. It was a gradual melt, so no water in the basement this year. That's about the only good thing I can say about this year so far. It was the most brutally cold winter I can remember. It went into the deep freeze in January and never came out until about a week ago.

Little bit of snow left along the north side of the bush lines.
Had a good shower today, Grass is greening up...a good 3 weeks ahead of last year.
