Does anybody know what the general cost would be to replace a third gear in a w9 McCormick Deering (if I had someone else replace it).I'd like to do it myself, I just don't know where to start.

Humm nobody biting. Well first I'd say you might have better luck if you posted this in the Farmall IHC section. I would say having someone do it would take $500 - $1500 and I would lean toward those figures being a good start. Where you located? Maybe another YT'er would be willing to help you out.

My I&T flat rate manual shows $70.00 labor for a transmission overhaul. That is based on $5.00 an hour shop labor. Gives you some idea how old the book is.

$70.00/$5.00 = 14 hours flat rate.

I've got an older manual, 1948 edition, where the labor rates and repair procedures for all makes and models of tractors are included in a hard cover book that shows $30.50 for the same job. The rates in that book are based on $2.50 an hour but the listing also gives the hours, 12.2.
