In reply to your E mail. I now have it now running between two telephone poles (lost the tree). I am still using 1/2 stainless steel cable hocked to pole on one end with an eye bolt. The other end I made up a bracket up that has a spring action in it to keep tension on the cable at all times. The bracket is made so I can take up tension and can change the spring if needed. The eye bolt on other end also has some take up. I use a trollie on cable and it puts less wear on cable. I have lost the old dog and shortened the length the run for new dog. You said you were going to use turn buckels and they should work ok and they will give you some take if the cable stretchs. You could put a spring in cable or chain going to dog and make sure to put one or two swivels in chain or cable going to dog.
