A while ago I asked about no heat in a 98 chevy 1500 after checking the obvious things. I wanted to update you all that offered tips. It turned out to be a perfect combo of things. Originally I feel the stat was bad but when I changed it I flushed the system with Rislone flush and had good flow but no heat. Then I changed the pump and tried again. Finally after your tips I "went back to basics" and pulled the heater hoses and stared it up. Had good flow from engine. Put mouth on heater hoses and core was plugged again. stuck a very low pressure, pressure washer wand in all orifices and good to go. I guess my original flush loosened up crud that replugged core. It may plug again...the truck is krap and will probably be scrapped by then. Anyways, thanks for your tips.

I used to flush heater cores all the time. I used a regular garden hose with a nozzle on it. flush it back and forth both ways with the water, keep going until it flows full water both directions. never had much of a problem with them replugging

I've done the same. I've also switched the heater hoses back and forth in a couple beater trucks. Seems like someone would make a filter to add to the heater hose.........
