I have a 14" abrasive cutoff (aka "chop") saw with a bad switch. Parts not available.

If not for the bad trigger switch, the saw would work fine.

Any ideas for a substitute switch?

Check a parts list for a Milwaukee chop saw will work for yours.THere are some switches available thru surplus center, you can look and see if any of them will work.

I have a wood saw with a broken handle and switch,I am thinking about a push on button switch for it(thumb press)

I have one with a bad switch. Good thing i it is bad as in will not turn off so I just unplug it and when I need it I set the thing up and plug it in. So you might think about just hot wiring it and unplug it to stop and start it. Ya you need to use your head when using it but that is what common sense is for
