Been looking for a welder to do aluminum for a while; spotted a Lincoln Powermig 255 on Craigslist a couple of days ago. It was built in 2001 and here is the kicker : NEVER BEEN USED!

Got it for $1500 including a new spool of aluminum wire.

I talked to a local Lincoln dealer and they said it was a good machine, and the price now for a similar welder PM256 was over $2500. Old me it was worth $1400 at least (without the wire). Good deal for everybody.
 
No, not with spool gun, but it can be added. Just wire feed for now. I'm going to try it without spool gun first.

I don't weld aluminum but I was talking to a buddy and the local welding supply guy at the hardware store about the big Hobart wire welder I sold my buddy , who wants to do a little aluminum welding with it .

We were taking about the knurled rollers and how much that helps keep steel wire from sticking . when we started talking about aluminum wire the sales rep told us that they make different hardnesses of aluminum wire .

Flux core wire will leave your liner dirty and may cause your aluminum to kink more . a clean liner and hardened wire may work good . ask your salesman.
