LED work light

While working on my 1967 Datsun roadster yesterday I was suddenly struck with how much I like my new LED work light. About a month ago my two bulb fluorescent light wouldn't come on so while at Lowes I was looking for a replacement with a leaning towards LED, because I have been buying LEDs now and then for both home and church. I have been doing a lot of welding from on or near the floor so the light has been on the floor a lot and already could stand a new lense because of the amount of hot grinding and welding sparks that it has caught. I have dropped it a number of times from over three feet. It has no hook to hang it by but instead two metal strap bales that serve as a stand, or I found that I can clamp one or both of them to something with vise grips. It doesn't replace the LED head lamp but it enables me to have light to work by a lot more easily than I used to.

I have replaced my all old fluorescent light over work bench with new cold start (-20 below) T8's. My drop lights are still CFL's but as thet go they will be replaced with LED. Over half of the overhead lighting in garage has been replaced with LED.In my house I am slowly replacing all the bulbs in house that are on the circuits of the transfer switch to LED first.

I purchased one from Lowes that seems to be like the one you purchased. It came with 12V & 120v cords. I put it in the truck for roadside emergencies.

Harbor Freight gives them away for free from time to time- they always have a freebee in their sales circulars, and it rotates in and out. Seem to be good quality, have a magnet on the back so you can stick them where you want.

I keep several of the HF freebies around the house, and one on the boat. They don't like salt air, though. The boat light is good for less than a year before the battery contacts are corroded beyond saving. If they cost me money, I'd probably coat them with dielectric grease first, but since they're free...

My brother had one of them many years ago. He
flipped a toggle switch on the dash one day, and
nothing happened, but he never flipped it back to the
on position. Took my father many days to realize it
had an electric fuel pump. He was a little
frustrated by them. Neat car. MG B clone.

Like to hear more about the Datsun! Got any
pictures? History?

I did a cheap and quick ring and valve job on one
of those many years ago. It belonged to an old
man, don't think he even knew what he had. I do
remember it ran and handled very well!

Last year at the Harvest Swap Meet in Centralia (supposed to be old car stuff, but lots of other stuff has crept in), someone was selling Harbor Freight freebies- he had several of each, at a buck a pop. Don't know how many he sold.

Someone else asked a week or two ago for me to put up pics. I am really slogging now. I keep opening up more problem areas. I was hoping to get around both rear corners without having to blow the lead out, but now due to prior body repair on the left and extensive rot on the right It looks like I will be fairly deep into both corners. Cutting out the thin stuff and butt welding in new just takes so much time!

I tried uploading pictures but they didn't open maybe they are too big.

My son gave me an LED head for a trouble light. The old style shade comes off and the new head screws in, with a locking clamp to keep it in place. It has a nice swivel hook, plus the head will swivel, so you can make it point to the work instead of torqueing to the cord memory. I like it so well that I bought another one. I've always figured I'd have something flammable spilled and then break a trouble light bulb and burn the shop down, but maybe I can get that thought out of my mind now.
