Left Hand Thread Chasers

Was looking to buy a set of left hand thread chasers. I have a right hand set, but am running into more instances of where I could use a left hand chaser. After looking on line for them and getting total sticker shock, it doesn't look like I'll be buying a set. Why are they do expensive?

I suppose it is a supply / Demand issue. The lower quality ones are just not manufactured. Try Wholesale Tools of Oklahoma. They have a lot of left hand dies.

Go to garrettwade.com and look for the "exterior thread restorer". It fits a whole range of sizes and doesn't care whether left- or right-hand thread. One of these has paid for itself repeatedly by letting me reuse hard-to-find old bolts. If instead you need to fix a threaded hole or nut, there's also an "internal" version on the same page.

For bolts just buy a good thread file,(one n.c.- n.f., and one metric) I have saved a lot of bolts over the years with one.
