compressor rotation

Morning folks. I ended up with an IR 2stage 5 hp
compressor , 80 gallon model ts 4 . Motor went bad
before I got it . There is no arrow on the flywheel
that I can see. Replacement motor is bidirectional
anyone know the rotation when facing the flywheel ?
Thanks.

If the fly wheel/pulley spokes are flat and slanted, much like fan blades, then I believe it should turn in the direction that it will push air over the cylinders.

A little off topic probably, but I have 2 compressors made out of Chrysler air conditioner pumps, the 2-cylinder V. They need to turn clockwise facing the pulley, same as they did in the vehicle, for the oil pump. Maybe that is why some people have had trouble with them not lasting very long. I don't know if many air compressors have oil pumps, but I would think the better ones would.

Yes you want the pulley to turn so air moves across the fins. Follow the arrow for rotation. SOme of the real big pumps DO have oil pumps and you better have correct rotation. Small stuff is just splash lube and you can run them either way but they will not cool correctly if backwards. Swap the motor leads! Most electric motors come the wrong way around out of the box.
