I kind of know the answer, but I am going to ask anyway? The harbor frieght flyer came in the mail,A 29.99 high volume, low pressure gravity fed spray gun,on sale for 9.99,did anyone ever try one? I am thinking maybe even for one time use,,I have painted a few of the 3 pt equiptment with rustoleum,a brush, and a few rattle cans for tough spots,it worked out ok for me,,,,now I was thinking on a not windyday,in the good weather later on,,get a few things ready, and I have some scaffolding,,the neighbor lets me use his 3 pt harrow,it could use a coat of paint too,,,some of the things that are tough to do with a brush,Im not talking showroom paint job,but to protect some, and look better too,Will it spray rustoleum,or is it junk?

I bought three of them in a set from tractor supply and they work good. I can't speak for the HF one but for the price you don't have much to lose. You might have to thin your paint but that isn't difficult.

The ones I have bought have been fine. I have to keep buying them because I don't seem to get back to clean them after painting something. Cheaper to buy new for me than to try to clean a gun in a gallon bath of lacquer thinner or acetone.

I don't have any of the newer ones, but have a couple older HF spray guns. They are perfectly fine for anything you would use a spray can on.

We have one and have painted two Cub Cadets and a pickup with it plus other misc. things. Seemed to work well just hard to clean.

I was tempted by the price and bought one even though I have a good spray gun . The atomization was quite good . It sprayed well . The problem arouse when the disposible plastic cup system started to drip during painting . Other than that which is an accessory , it was fine.

Just be sure you don't paint over any rust, even with Rustoleum paint, It may look better for awhile but it will be rusting faster underneath because tha paint traps moisture in.

I got one and the only thing you have to look for is metal flashing on the inside of the spray nozzle.

I used to paint cars for a hobby, so I had old high quality spray guns, binks, sharp. I think the guns HF sells are Binks knock off. I've used them and they do a good job on rustolum. I thin rustolum with mineral spirits. I've even sprayed water base latex paint and urethane.

Not sure what a high volume, low pressure gravity fed spray gun is. My gun uses about 40-50 psi, old school type gun. I use a respirator. Spray outside and stay upwind. Make sure over spray doesn't get on anything, like cars, buildings. I've painted gates, tractors, implements, anything I don't want to use a brush on or can't get a brush to. What's the worst can happen if rustolum covers up a little rust, it will fall off? Lipstick on a pig looks good for a while. I will never use a rattle can.

Can't answer your question. I use a standard quart can air sprayer, works ok for me.
But it does bring back memories of a paint sprayer deal about thirty some years ago.

Hot News flash all day over the radio and TV.

"A trucker got lost on his way from California to Florida with a load of paint sprayers. His delivery time somehow ran out and he needed to sell the sprayers at a sacrificed price. He had one day to unload the shipment."

How does a over the road trucker from California to Florida get lost and wind up way down here in south Texas?
I bit and bought one. It turned out to be a knock off Wagner type sprayer. I think I paid less than $10.00 for it.
I painted my bar-b-cue pit and finished just before it melted down.
I bought one, but I saw some folks walking away with as many as they could carry.

I bought a HVLP gun about 10 years ago , my Binks 18 just sits now....Uses less paint because there's little bounce back, and easy to clean . I just use gas , it the cheapest solvent you can buy !

I bought a $20.00 unit from them last summer. Had to dilute the latex a little, but it worked okay on the fence on my deck that I am building. The only problem was, it leaked in places where it wasn't supposed to. Finished my work (about 1 1/2 gallons, and took it back for a free exchange (90 day guarantee). It works great on lattice and such.

I replaced this 1/4 panel and door and painted it with a HVLP from Harbor Freight..

I have four or five and use them for everything but a quality coat of clearcoat.

Actually, at that price the entire gun is cheaper than a replacement cup.

You might want to clean up the orifices with a welding tip cleaner to remove burrs.

I like Harbor Freight sprayers but the #47016 is a terrible gun. It puts out more air than paint and the mason jar type cap on the cup always gets paint in the threads to where it glues it on. I shelved mine. I prefer the siphon sprayer #97855. It sprays good for everything but some automotive paints. Metallic paints the sprayer doesn't atomize very well.

If the gun doesn't work well, it'll be the paints fault. They're clones of good guns that use to cost over $200. They're designed for automotive paints, not oil based rustoleum. Might work.
