I have yet to build a splitter this is one that I had brought to me to fix

Someone posted a photo of one on the previous thread about the splitter Rich repaired for someone. It has 2 cylinders to raise it vertical, also works as a log lift, never though of that, looks really useful having 2 purposes.

On my vertical beam splitter I have a much larger working table, maybe 15" by 24" or something.
What I do is roll the block to be split and tip it on to the table. Now I can sit down on another block and split away. The block rotates nicely on the big table. Or if I want I can leave it vertical but 2 feet off the ground and work standing up. Usually only work standing up if wood is 12" or so. For the big blocks sitting down is easier for me.

The splitter I use (belongs to a friend) has the beam pinned close to the balance point, so it is easy to pull the clip and stand it vertically by hand. Sometimes I don't know if its easier to bend over and pick up each piece to split, or stand it vertical but then have to lean over to split. If the piece is too big to lift, the decision is made for me! LOL
