Home Alarm System Removal

I have the impression there are people here with knowledge of home alarm systems. My question/problem is about an Ademco Lynxr24 system installed in this house by the previous owners. I took it off the wall never thinking it was tied in with the telephone land line. Now the phone is dead. The telephone wires were connected to terminals 1 through 4 of a 16 terminal bar. The wires are black, red, yellow and green. Does anyone know the sequence in which they should be connected? And, no, you can't call me.

I am guessing that the line went through the unit. Tie or splice the green wire to the black wire and tie or splice the red wire to the yellow wire and see if the phone works

Green and red are the only two you need to make the phone work. The wires coming into the connector should be the same color. Just try to see which pins are using the red & green wires and use them. The yellow wire carries something like 9 volts to light up illuminated phones and the black is a ground.

green and red christmas colors... also tip and ring..

ring is right, is red, is ridged...

blue/white on newer cables that are somewhat data compatible.

black yellow green red is not data compatible, and cannot have a second line installed as the ring will bleed over, and data will have too much cross talk. that wire is basicallly doorbell wire and obsoleted in the 60s...

Hmmm, somebody forgot to tell our phone lines.
Before we changed over to satellite system we had a
second line on the yellow/black pair for dial-up
computers.
Back 50 yrs ago I worked cable in military.
Remember red-ring-right-ridged. Just found out last
summer where the tip/ring terms came from.
