Great ad photo. They ruled radio & electronic supplies in their day. I recall going in the late 1990's when still in the radio business and never returning again when I couldn't find a part and was so disappointed with service and supply. I have to wonder if Sears or JCPenny will follow this trend given their $ problems and a host of issues.

Yeah, really too bad but their market shifted and they couldn't hang on.

Any of you guys ever build a crystal radio when you were a kid? It was my first time at a Radio Shack buying parts. Seems like yesterday but I guess it was over 50 years ago now.

Bob - MI,Yes did the same thing 50 or more years ago too.If I remember I got my parts from the Allied catalog. When I got the parts I could hardly wait to get it all put together. Then I spent hours upon hours listening and finding all the stations I could get on that magic board, that took no power.

I remember the first Radio Shack store in Ft. Worth Tx. on West 7th across from Montgomery Ward store. Tandy got started with a leather store downtown Ft. Worth close to Lenord Bros. Tandy was killed in a plane crash and it has never been the same.
