Just need a big ol Bloodhound. LOL. He is on the second side and the third front. I have some left over metal from the barn roof, think I will use it to replace the front. At least the Beagle sleeps with the Bloodhound to keep each other warm. Thought y'all would get a kick out of this.

He was probably thinking French doors to let in more light. Those wood walls can sure make a place dark and dreary.

A bloodhound and another dog happened to our place last summer. The bloodhound was a beautiful dog, a great looking hound. The mixed breed with him was a nice friendly dog. They were doing constuction on the highway out front with follow me cars. So I caught the dogs and put them in my unused dog kennel. It has a plastic dog house in it. That hound was ok for a couple days, But then he commenced to chewing and throwing around that dog house. Fortunately thru craigslist and a nearby animal shelter web site we located the owners. I'm sure glad that dog house probably would not have lastedanother day. lol happy ending dog story gobble

Good looking dogs. The metal from the barn roof is a great idea. If it's really cold you might hang something in the new doorway that they could push out of the way to get in and out. I used strips of the yellow transparent plastic that is used to protect bystanders from welding arc light and sparks because I had some of it on hand. Weather tight wouldn't be an issue for you because the benefit would be relative to an open door---even if it didn't help much, it wouldn't make it colder.

They can sharpen their teeth on the steel. LOL My dog has cats to keep him warm. They snuggle up in the dog house on cold winter nights. It's beyond me how those cats can stand the smell.

Mine wouldn't know what a dog house is. There's only a house around here and we share it--wouldn't have it any other way.

If you have really cold weather, I would be a little leary of using steel. Probably wouldn't be pretty to see them thrashing around trying to pull their toungs of the cold steel.

I know that's right. This is our inside dog. A Boston Terrier. Don't worry the fireplace is a direct vent gas furnace. It has a glass front and is sealed. He thinks he is another person. LOL

While you are at it, cut a circle out of that porch and drop the bowl in it. Keep from spilling and getting knocked over.

I was told by a horse lover/keeper that when horses chew up the realestate, it is called "cribbing" and the palliative was to cut young willow trees and feed it to the horses. Wasn't sure why, but it stopped them. ?? Leo
