Bandsaw blade final setup

Replacing the tightening bolt did the trick and it was so simple. The blade stays on no matter how hard I push the saw. When I tighten the blade I can feel the blade stretch as I crank on the knob. Before, the knob would abruptly crank hard when it came to the bad threads. Thanks to you guys who gave advice on adjustments. I played with the tip back on the top wheel go get the blade to run towards the back of the wheel. Tricky and finite for sure. Jim

Glad you got it fixed. Thanks for the feedback.

Good, you got it fixed!

The adjustment for getting the blade to run to the back of the wheel is tricky. Don't want it too far back, as in rubbing on the wheel flange (if it has one), or the teeth running on the wheel (will knock the set out of the blade), or back so far as to put excess pressure on the back of the blade guides.

I adjusted so the back of the blade just consistently very lightly touched the back flange on the wheel . Had to loosen the cap screw, crank the adjusting screw ever so slightly, tighten the cap screw again etc. I replaced the adjusting bolt with one that is 1/2" longer so the threaded part goes all the way through the threads on the adjuster. It was only engaging the threads 1/2 way before. I have a suspicion this bolt has been replaced before but with one that wasn't quite long enough. Was it me who replaced it before IF it was replaced? Could be, 40 years of ownership and use is a long time. Jim

Glad she's ready for another 40 years. Loosening that tension bolt a tad when you get done cutting will help your blade a bunch but if you have crs like mine it'll hardly ever happen. lol
